Comparing: Organic Silk vs Viscose

Silk is the only superior choice when it comes to your face and body. The geometric weave structure is the science to the perfect exfoliation. Raw silk maintains the natural pH level of skin, which is essential for healthy clear skin. Naturally anti-bacterial with 20 amino acids, natural antioxidants, and sericin proteins that hydrate and help the skin absorb and retain moisture, resulting in ultra-moisturized skin. The BODY SÓL™ Glove is the original silk exfoliant glove, the highest-grade silk—100% natural, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and unbleached—setting us apart from other companies.

Viscose is made from cellulose, as all early plastics were. However, it is far from natural due to the extensive chemical processing it undergoes. The plant fibers are transformed into rayon using toxic chemicals like sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide, and then spun into threads with sulfuric acid. No trace of the original plant is left. It takes decades for viscose/rayon to biodegrade.

Most exfoliants are falsely marketed as “viscose silk” or “herbal silk” — are not in fact silk at all.

There are no viscose producers in the United States because it is too toxic to comply with the EPA’s standards.
